Signing, Lighting & Guarding @ Roadwork’s (CSCS)

As of the 6th July 2009this course is mandatory under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction Regulations) 2006 Reg.97. The specific legislative requirement is as follows;

“The roadworks are supervised by a competent person who has been issued with a valid construction skills registration card”.

Who Should Attend

Managers, supervisors and operatives who are required to plan, organise and manage roadworks.

Aims/Objectives

At the end of the course candidates will be competent in:

  • Planning, organising, direct and manage the safe flow of traffic through the roadworks with minimum delay and risk to themselves and other road users.
  • Listing the relevant legislation
  • Describing signs and equipment used on roadworks
  • Listing all requirements for traffic management
  • Reading, understanding and describing all traffic management layouts as set out in Chapter 8
  • Install, maintain and remove signs and equipment used on roadworks
  • Maintaining site records
